Your consent, explained

The last step of every Olvian form is a consent screen with up to five boxes. None are ticked in advance. This page explains what each one means, in plain language, and how to take any of them back. The legal wording is shown in grey exactly as it appears on the form.

Before the boxes: who will contact you

There are no tick boxes. The statement sits directly above the button, the button says what it does, and tapping it is your consent. We store the exact wording you saw, the label that was on the button, and the moment you tapped it, so we can show you later precisely what you agreed to.

Box 1: sharing your details (required)

I agree that Olvian may share the details I have provided with the insurers and brokers listed above so that they can contact me about {{ product_title }}.

What it means: we may send your answers and contact details to the named insurers, for this request only. Not to anyone else, and not for anything else. Without this box we cannot do the one thing you came for, which is why it is required.

Box 2: being contacted (required)

I consent to Olvian and the insurers listed above contacting me by phone, SMS, WhatsApp and email about this request. I understand I can withdraw this consent at any time by replying STOP, using the link in any message, or emailing privacy@olvian.com, and that this is the only time Olvian will ask for it.

What it means: the law (section 69 of POPIA) says nobody may market to you electronically unless you agreed first, and they may only ask once. This box is that one ask. It covers this request only. It also tells you the three ways to withdraw. "This is the only time Olvian will ask" is a promise: if you say no, or later say stop, we do not come back to ask again.

Box 3: WhatsApp first (optional)

Please contact me on WhatsApp first to confirm my details before an insurer calls.

What it means: within a minute of sending, we message you on WhatsApp to check the request was yours, read your details back, ask two or three short questions the insurer needs, and book the call time. If you leave this unticked, your request goes straight to the insurer and they call in the window you chose.

Box 4: health information (optional, only shown if you answered a health question)

I give my express consent for Olvian to process the health information I have provided, solely to pass it to the insurers listed above for this request.

What it means: health information gets extra protection under POPIA, and we need your specific permission to handle it. If you tick this, your health answer travels with your request. If you do not, we delete the answer before sending, and the insurer asks you directly on the call. Either way, we never keep health information for any other purpose.

Box 5: age, identity and terms (required)

I confirm that I am 18 or older, the details are my own, and I have read the Privacy Notice and Terms of Use.

What it means: you must be an adult to request cover, the details must be yours (you cannot submit a request for someone else), and you have had the chance to read how we handle your information.

How to withdraw any of it

  • Reply STOP to any WhatsApp or SMS from Olvian or from the insurer.
  • Click the opt-out link in any email.
  • Use the opt-out page and enter your mobile number.
  • Email privacy@olvian.com with your reference number.

Any one of these stops everything on every channel. We record it within seconds, we tell the insurer if the request has already reached them, and we keep your number on a suppression list so that we never approach you again. Withdrawing consent does not undo anything that already happened lawfully, such as an insurer having called you yesterday.

One more thing we tell you

An automated score decides which insurer receives your request first, based on things like whether your number is live and whether you confirmed on WhatsApp. It never decides whether you get a service at all. If you want a person to look at your request instead, email privacy@olvian.com with your reference number.
